Half a century later, in 1996, the publishing house Planeta in Barcelona would publish this same translation again under the direction and editing of the Madrid journalist and translator Eduardo Chamorro (1946-2009). In this annotated edition, Chamorro would make innumerable modifications to Subirat’s original translation, so we can say that this second reissue of Ulysses, being optimistic, barely preserves sixty percent of Subirat’s original. Chamorro eliminated all the colloquialisms and words typical of Subirat’s Buenos Aires dialect, as well as a good number of “typos” or “oversights” –according to Chamorro– that the Buenos Aires translator had made during his translation process.
